“Give me your tired, your poor,

Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,

The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.

Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me,

I lift my lamp beside the golden door!”

The Statue of Liberty is a statue that assures us of hope. One that calls ;

“Give me your tired, your poor,

Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,

The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.

Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me,

I lift my lamp beside the golden door!”

These words have held me and looking at her means hope. Not just for me, but for my daughter.A better life, a better opportunity a land full of diversity, a land that will accept me for who I am and gives me a chance to thrive and daughter to prosper.

Lady Liberty has served as an essential American cultural monument and is seen as a welcoming symbol to immigrants and visitors from around the world and this is what this Land of opportunity will give me and my daughter from the plains of Turkana. I love home, don't mistake me, But I know there is more out in the world that can use my potential and I believe America is where I will bloom and thrive and help back home.

I don't know what fate has for me towards this Land, but am hopeful. Am I afraid of what the future holds? Yes, I am. Am afraid if it goes through and where am going to start? Yes. But am here trusting if it's God's will this will happen. Jobwise, a lot of questions. Would I change my career? or i will continue with this line of humanity? My baby, how will she adapt to school.New beginnings huh? They really can be scary.

Have been spending a lot of time on Youtube looking at Videos related to this and it is exciting to know that people like them also had chances and they made it happen and are thriving with opportunities. Some people who were no bodies here back home in Kenya who never even owned a piece of land owned homes and drove cars in this land. I know I want a better life for my little girl and I know this land of opportunities will give us just that.

Am here waiting for May and hopeful it will turn in our favour. Hasn't Papa asked of us in Habakkuk 2;2 “Then the LORD answered me and said: “Write the vision And make it plain on tablets, That he may run who reads it. For the vision is yet for an appointed time; But at the end, it will speak, and it will not lie. Though it tarries, wait for it; Because it will surely come, It will not tarry.”I know it's all to sheer lack, but I long for this land and the opportunities it comes with. Not just for me but for my little girl. I did apply for a lot of fellowships last year, but none came to pass. Am holding onto this faith, that if it is his will it shall be done. That's why am leaving this here.

Love and Light,

Adoket.
